Autogestion Book Launch

November 24, 2009, 7:00pm / Please join Fillip, the Charles H. Scott Gallery, and the artists for the launch of Autogestion, or Henri Lefebvre in New Belgrade at READ Books this Tuesday. The book will be launched with the artists’ other newly available title, Right to the City, published by Fotohof Edition, Salzburg and Landesgalerie Landesmuseum, Linz.

Produced in conjunction with Bitter and Weber’s recent exhibition at Landesgalerie Landesmuseum, Linz, Autogestion, or Henri Lefebvre in New Belgrade presents a previously unpublished 1986 text by French philosopher and urbanist Henri Lefebvre. Printed as a facsimile of a recently discovered manuscript, Lefebvre’s text is based on the concept of “autogestion” (worker’s self-management), an idea central to urban restructuring processes. The text is contextualized and interpreted by accompanying commentaries and essays, and wrapped in an editions of five different foldout poster covers.
